What is a hanging fireplace?
A hanging fireplace (sometimes referred to as a suspended fireplace or a ceiling mounted fireplace) is a style of fireplace that hangs from your ceiling and is mounted via a fixing piece onto your chimney, or via anchoring bolts into the rooms beams if using a no chimney option. Our luxury designer fireplaces use one of four fuels – wood, bioethanol, gas or electricity.
Choosing where to place your hanging fireplace
The beauty of Caleo designer fireplaces is that they can be placed anywhere in your space.
There is no right answer on where you should place a hanging fireplace, but the design of these fireplaces means you have flexibility, which is key when renovating or if you're unsure on placement at the moment.
For wall or corner options, the build of your wall determines how close they can get to this (non-combustible vs combustible material) but most models can be installed at most about a metre away from the wall, or in the middle of your room. This gives you the freedom to choose from a variety of models and think about the placement once you're happy with your choice.
For larger spaces, the Domofocus is a beautiful hanging fireplace available in wood burning and no chimney bioethanol.
What to do when you have a smaller room but still want a fireplace
Where space is a concern, a large hanging fireplace can take up precious room and even provide more heat than is necessary for the area it sits in. For a spaces like this where a smaller fireplace may be more appropriate, the JC Bordelet LEA offers a suspended version of this model and at a maximum 700mm width, is ideal for most UK homes.

Why hang a fireplace in a corner?
No matter the size of the home, corners of rooms are either taken up by wall-mounted furniture such as bookcases and TV stands, or, more commonly, are ‘dead spaces’ where most furniture may look out of place or simply cannot fit. A hanging fireplace is the perfect solution for this. Not only does it provide warmth, ambiance and a unique cosy feeling that only a fireplace offers, but it helps fill this void and add the finishing touch to your space.
Are fireplaces obtrusive in the middle of the room?
Quite the opposite. In an open-plan space, a suspended fireplace can help divide a room and create a natural walkway through the space, rather than feeling 'empty' as some open-plan spaces can feel between two rooms with no wall divider. Not only do they help with this, but they provide a gentle warmth throughout the day, naturally heating the space.
Can a fireplace sit flush against the wall?
In the case of a hanging fireplace, this wouldn't be possible, but we do offer fireplaces made to sit flush against a corner wall, and can be made to your exact wall specifications. What type of fireplace should I have in my home?

Suspended fireplaces do give you significantly more freedom on placement within your space, but most of our models, regardless of build style, can be adapted to suit different fuel types and room types if space is an issue.
